AUrankAdminGoogleFrog desires a new trailer for Zero-K in the vein of FIranksprang's trailer:

To that end, I'd like to know if anyone has replays they think would be particularly good for filming such action scenes.
Parameters:
* Mixed land/water map (for demonstrating ship action and pretty bumpwater) would be nice but is not required.
* Copying the sprang trailer implies all the scenes are from a single ZK match, but I'm also considering a montage using different matches (which could be nice for showing off the variety of maps available).
* Mentions of things to look out for in each replay would be nice.

If nothing good comes up I can also set up a bot game or stage something in a mission-type scenario.

I'm not sure that it perfectly suits the criteria, but in lieu of other options
Multiplayer B458392 20 on Nuclear_Winter_v1
has a bunch of striders and shiny stuff.

Working on it, although in a rather early stage, with around half a minute done out of the required 2:30 for the updated Thunderdome to be used as the soundtrack.

The trailer will be divided into three parts:

The first part (0:00-1:16) will be a remake of my earlier trailer, but with more polish and based on a new replay.

The second part (1:16-1:54) will be a feature showcase.

The third part (1:54-2:34) will be the epic finale, showing the biggest, baddest and coolest things ZK has to offer.

The only thing that I haven't got an exact plan for yet is the third part, and I wouldn't oppose collaboration for it. It will begin with a sumo stomp, and from there on it should at least show battles featuring detriment, starlight, and maybe the classic nuke finish.

I'd like to base most of the shots on real replays, because those are always more lively than staged shots. So here are some specific requests. Please post a link to the battles if you know some that feature these moments, and also to the rough timings of those moments. Also the prettier the map the battle takes place on, the better.

1. At least two pyros attacking by jumping up a cliff, opening fire during/after the jump.
2. Sumo jumping down a cliff on top of some units and wrecking them with the stomp.
3. A battle featuring a nuke hit.
4. A battle featuring detriment(s).
5. A battle featuring starlight.

Thanks in advance! And if you have collaboration ideas contact me here or on the ZK Discord.

I shared some raw recordings (via MEGA) in the other thread about the trailer competition which went train factory as expected if that helps...

How is this going FIranksprang and @KingRaptor? This is a large subproject and quite an important one.

I haven't actually done anything, on account of FIranksprang already having stuff in progress. If sprang says they haven't advanced work either, I'll write my own script and film it.

Just if you're wondering, I'm still working on mine, but the more the merrier. It'll also still take me a month or longer before I can show anything.

At my current rate of progress, ETA will be Christmas. Don't let that stop you from using my previous or someone else's trailer. I'm also offering editing/grading for anyone who has recorded his footage already, because I can do that fairly efficiently.

I've watched Aquanim's replay and written down the scenes I want to film, but haven't had time to actually shoot them yet. I intend to do that and create a draft video soon (if at all possible, before November, to avoid conflicts with other things I have planned for that time).

provide replays and timecodes and probably the map position and i can record unedited clips and share them. im not good in editing. also state which output format you like (would do else mp4 with medium quality for live-recording, see my records at https://mega.nz/#F!JfYxVDAa!kfMe9me2TTn0onl76PEnwg ). steam release is closeâ„¢!

What, really? Well, in that case:
[Spoiler]
Although given past precedent I expect I'll end up doing this myself anyway, partly to have more certainty of meeting schedule and partly just so inner self will stop nattering at me for being a lazy bum.

check the link above for quality, thats my default. if you can live with that you make my live easy -.-
also, i record without sounds, but that should not be a problem right?

DErankAdminmojjj:
Video quality seems... fine?
At least my non-videophile eyes don't see anything wrong. I have this dark suspicion that Steam users expect much prettier, but that's probably mostly the units/maps rather than the recording quality. Red Comet is pretty plain.

Sound: I dunno. None of the trailers I have sound effects, CHrankAdminDeinFreund's doesn't, but FIranksprang's does. I think it's fine without (even if it'd be better to have it and not need it than the reverse).

The main issue I have with the uploaded examples is they have UI elements sticking out, like unit shapes, non-dotwars radar icons and command lines. (It also often feels... uncinematic, although I can't give more specific suggestions than "don't position camera at right angles to the scene of interest", "don't have most of the field of view be where nothing is happening", and "golden ratio is your friend".)

CHrankAdminDeinFreund saw your trailer, i like it. If u use dynamic range compression for your audio, back up the threshhold a little bit, the transients of the drums are completely moed down and it´s beginning to distort slightly. If you haven´t dome anything and that is how you got the file forget what i said.

@KingRaptor
would it be easy to expand the F5-action to be more video-record friendly?

e.g. on CTRL-F5
1) default F5 action (hide UI stuff)
2) set icon-distance to maximum
3) disable all "selected unit circle", movement/attack lines etc
4) ...?

(restore old settings with on CTRL-F5 again)

beacuse sometimes when speccing some cool action evolves and i cannot pause to fiddle with icon distance etc in time and the situation is gone...

It´s definitely squashed.

what DeinFreund would say: "WTF DeinNoob!"
what I would say: "No problem, if you want just send the file to me and I will get it right" :)
