I think we all know Hacksaw could need a buff. Rarely anyone builds it as it often fails to do it´s job and it even gets
oneshot or onebombed by ravens. Example: http://zero-k.info/Battles/Detail/451913
Maybe don´t buff damage or hp, just the turning-speed so it actually offers protection against bombers...

Wow, this building is truly useless. In first bombing run hacksaw missile missed bomber.
And in the second run, bomber managed kill hacksaw before it died. lol

Thats not only problem. As far as i remeber, Licho can kill hacksaw without even entering its range...

Hacksaw need lower price or longer range. Otherwise its just potatoe unit who can be just outplayed with one swift. Or rename it to potatoesaw if no buff.

Yeah it´s like a warrior that gets oneshot by a glaive.

I agree, because for the price of a Hacksaw I could build a Faraday, or a Newton, both of which are proven to devastate bombers: One can halt them mid-flight with EMP stuns, the other can yank them out of the sky like toys to be chewed apart by units and defenses. Both are far more reliable -- and much more durable -- options for dealing with bombers than a Hacksaw right now. Admittedly, Hacksaw has the damage the abovementioned defenses don't, but with the range on the Hacksaw so awful, the only place I would ever build one is on the water, where I unfortunately can't build Newtons or Faradays.

Hacksaw is one of those units that is an extreme counter to a specific unit class (bombers) and bombers are a little underrepresented at the moment. Hacksaw does not really need to be powerful as all it would do is reduce the occurrence of bombers.

as AUrankAdminGoogleFrog mentioned, it is very good at suppressing raven rush at beginning. Also as Senaven mentioned, a good bomber rush is when you scout before and then send one swift before bombers to make it a potatoesaw

It's pretty shit that it can miss a raven though.

i agree hacksaw could need some buff..
however i like a strong short range aa (to protect porc/important areas),
so not a range buff imho. all other aa have huge range...

Give it 10 missiles burst, 8 being able to kill a Raven. Gonna be more Call of Duty like with 10 white tracers for each HS instead of 2.

The vid shows what i mean. I don´t speak of buffing range or anything, i just want it to do it´s job. As it is supposed to.

Also, sice the wyvern-nerf ravens have become more usual at least in the team-games i played.

CHrankVistritium happens all the time, which is why I stopped building them altogether. The very least they need to be able to prevent is a single shadow dropping a bomb on them or anything behind them. Then the shadows can still simply chose another attack direction to avoid it.

@engine peoplers this looks like a bad missile AI. Own velocity, acceleration and inertia needs to be taken account for missiles to hit targets. I've spent quite some time working on missile AI for an unfinished space game I once made, maybe something from there could be of use. Missiles in that game used RCS and thrust vectoring for rotation and there was no air resistance, so it was important for the missiles to incorporate their own velocity accurately. How are missiles guided in Spring?

Make hacksaw short range insta shredder instead(cobra on steroids), make 1 hacksaw and have ur com protected vs 4 ravens within 200elmo range
sounds legit ^^

that was actually my idea....

Maybe if people had their hands on that handy widget @_Shaman made this thread wouldn't exist

Needs more health regardless. Maybe devs could make targeting better so players wouldn't have to code widgets for it.
