Pillager is the HT fac's most useful artillery, especially since it's saturation artillery, Tremor, rarely hits anything

It is a simple to use unit, which makes it a more helpful one.

It costs 700 Metal
Does 600 Damage
Rarely Never misses, unless it fires at radar dots/moving units

Tips:
Don't make it drive, since the turret rotate speed is slower than the speed it drives at. It can actually still fire, it just can't bear it's gun fast enough.
This rarely misses, so giving it LOS against porc will make it a very powerful supporter.
Don't make it attack fast-moving units, it will more often than not, miss the shots.
It can be a powerful anti-porc and heavy, especially since it fires a straight shot, making it rarely miss a slow moving target.
Autogroup your Pillager's so you can make them hit targets you want.
Protect them, a few Panthers will do against raider parties.
Target those you want/need dead, don't let them waste shots, they do have a somewhat long reload of 7 Seconds. However, it is a bit standalone, capable of attacking and moving on itself, however this is not the best way to destroy porc.
Clear paths with Pillager, and destroy whatever gets in the way.
Spread them out, so raiders will take longer to destroy them all.
Keep them away from longer rangsd artillery if they are not distracted. If the enemy artillery is firing at something, use it to take it out
Use it to harry the opposition and inflict casualties on them.

Tremor
Uses:

Decloaking hidden units, especially Infiltrator and Ultimatum/Spectre. All of which are evidently deadly to the heavy tank fac.
Flattening ground and clearing porc walls, in some maps the hills may slow down tanks, so a smoother is useful.
Clear out the path from Wolverine.
Psychological benefit of rain of projectiles.
100% will make them move.
Powerful against clumps of units, it will not do direct damage, but rather it will spray them with lots of AOE.

Here is what I have learnt from Pillager.

Actually Tremor was buffed just before you wrote this post

Apparantely the buff is mostly irrelevant since I've not seen an update post about it yet.

Good info, NZrankhedgehogs thank you

I find the HT fac hard to use, due to its expensive units. I rarely choose it as my plopping one.

IMO goli is the best arty.

Tremor is for assault.
Pillager is for raiding.

Tremor's damage per shot was increased slightly, and its damage at the edge of its aoe radius has been increased from 0% to 50% which should make it suck a lot less. Its terrain smoothing radius and smoothing amount per hit has also been significantly increased.

I haven't looked at the change yet, but from previous discussions on similar changes I doubt this is exactly accurate.

EDIT: I believe edgeEffectiveness was changed to 0.5; see http://zero-k.info/Forum/Thread/23272 for an explanation of what that means.

Ew. Edge effectiveness of 0 is basically linear falloff, while edge effectiveness of 0.5 is barely any better. It maybe does 10-15% more damage at any given distance.

I'm not entirely sure that the chart is still correct after 9 years. Also note that Leveler has edge effectiveness 0.75 and feels pretty effective at its edges.

According to that chart there's a huge difference between 0.5 and 0.75 though. I'm pretty sure the equation used hasn't changed.

Are you reading the chart correctly? Just by eyeballing it I don't think 0.75 edge effectiveness has a radius which deals more than 20% more damage than 0.5 at the same radius.

Hmm, it seems to be pretty decent now. The increased smoothing is kind of ridiculous though. A couple of tremors can make ravaged into a 2D map pretty quickly. :P

Finally, every map can be a tank map

I thought you were over exagerating with the whole "every tank is a tank map now" thing. Until I tried it on Badlands. The center hill got flattened in one minute...
