The thing I like about this map is that the new battle-in-progress symbol fits nicely on it.

This is a decent map. The hidden fusions might crash it in the future but so far they seem to be perfectly hidden.

I mean Speed Metal is loved by the community and this is by far the best Speed Metal map out there (since it doesn't only resolve around porcing and rushing a starlight/nuke).

I agree that there are good and bad speedmetal maps (or gimmicky maps in general) and that it makes some sense to separate the good ones.

I think the hidden fusion is added by adding it to the buildlist of armcom and corcom. We don't have those units so nothing can build the hidden fusion.

Nah; it contains no gadgets or _posts to do that; doesn't have any side buildoptions gamedata and doesn't override corcom and armcom unitdefs. I can't see how it could insert itself except by overwriting a preexisting unit by name.
