Muted and kicked from server for good luck widget

I was kicked from the server and muted, by Chesti because I have a widget that wishes everyone good luck at the start of the game. Its a one time message. I don't see how it breaks the code of conduct, in fact I thought it was encouraged to show sportsman like behavior.

As some other people mentioned, Shaman had a similar widget, that he was never punished for using.

Please re-instate my rights as I have not done any thing wrong.

It is not the point of CoC.
It should be obvious that we are still humans and do write things which we might do not wish every time we are in-game...

*edit it is only 24 hours mute as warning which gives you time to write less which gives you time to remove automatic chatlines.

I think it is the point of code of conduct, because you shouldn't be issuing penalties other wise.

I am not removing my widget, unless you can demonstrate how it breaks the code of conduct. You are clearly over stepping and abusing your rights.

yes I did, I have been reading the tutorials on map making and widgets/gadgets and it was my first one to see if I could make one work. I was quite pleased to get it working.

oh btw. why did you get a kick from a game? You should be still able to play or did you resign manually?
If you did not resign manually it is a bug in infrastructure. because mute let you rejoins lobby but does not kick you from game.. (or at least it should not)

I have just been reading this, and I can not see anything in it that gives a reason for my penalty. I barely even speak during games normally. As per the code of conduct above it states that if you feel an unjust decision has been made by a moderator, you can respectfully take it up through the appropriate channels. It also recommends not to make forum posts, but it does not elaborate on what these "appropriate channels" are.

I think I am being respectful, and I have no other way of finding these "appropriate channels" other than on the forum.

Chesti, I think you're being a bit harsh. You could have warned him first to remove the widget if you feel it could annoy people on the long run.

Do you think everyone should be allowed to give his two cents at beginning of game with things he does not think every game?
(please refrain from everyone thinks the same every game)

The main problem is that it leads to further automatic messages from random players.
Good Luck could be wished by a automated message (maybe). But that is not personal in any case... I would not read it after time and ignore "good luck"
Let people decide what they write... and not a if GameStart => putOutStoredTextHere ...

If this is the case then it should be in the code of conduct, something along the lines of "No player should make an opening statement at the beginning of each game, no matter what the content is". I mean how do you quantify this? Do you mean the opening 10 seconds? 30 seconds? Should the first thing a player says never be the same as the first thing they said in the previous game? Do we have to second guess now, what might annoy you personally? I don't recall you ever saying anything to me about not using this.

The point still stands, that others have mentioned that Shaman used a similar widget with no problems. So is it one rule for a friend of yours and another for everyone else.

If you as an administrator are going to issue a penalty, I think you should be able to refer to the code of conduct, other wise it looks like you might have had a bad day, and issued it just because you could.

I'm sorry Chesti, but what you just wrote above makes no sense. "Let a player decide what he should say". But the point is I have decided what to say, and its the text in my widget. How do you know for example that I have not just edited that text?
In fact I have edited it several times, its quite easy to do. Just double click on the widget, it opens up what ever program you have associated with .lua and you can just edit and save.

Further more, you only know I am using a widget because I said so. How can you tell otherwise. Supposing a player types a message at the start of each game? how do you know its manually typed and not a widget? Is that still punishable by a mute?

Are you starting to see how silly this logic is? The point should not be that someone chooses to say something at the start of the game, the emphasis should be on the content. And there is surely nothing wrong with wishing good luck.
