hammers on fight completely ignore ghosted buildings, run into LLTs and other stupid things.

I think I should blame dynamic avoidiance for it.

You want them to not follow units they are attacking into defence AND not walk into defence themselves? Idk if you can have it both ways with the default spring target handler. Maybe I'll just make artillery 'skirm' defence.

No, they don't work with fight command.

Rarely (maybe once in 6 games or so) I'll have a batch of artillery units with fight command plow headfirst into enemy porc line. They have radar confirmation of the enemy, they have LOS on the enemy, they are being fucking shot at and killed by the enemy, but that doesn't stop them.

On the many occasions that this has happened, I've double checked to make sure they are on fight command.

On a related note: wolverine is too fast and doesn't decelerate quickly enough to be used on HLTs properly. Give a wolverine a fight command towards enemy HLT. Make sure it has enough distance to accelerate to full speed. It will rush towards the HLT, get within range, and slam on the brakes.... but the brakes aren't fast enough. Momentum carries it INTO the range of the HLT where the poor wolverine is killed in one shot.

the problem is if you set move on red, the hammers don't retreat if a unit comes close to them.

If you set them on fire at will, and move around, unit AI on, they should move away from the closest target if it is beyond 90% of hammers range.

Also I want units on fight to hold a middle distance.
* Enemy can attack at 50% range, you on 100%.
* * try to hold a position of 75% or 80% instead of 95% - avoid that enemy retreats easily
* Enemy has more range
* * Try to come as close as possible (raiders, heat ray units)

I didn't applu dynamic avoidance to fight command. I only put on "move", "reclaim", "repair", and "attack". Dynamic avoidance do send unit to death... but not if fight command.
