I assume many people have realised that Vindicator lasers make comm drops a lot more powerful and serve little other purpose. I'd like to do something about them so does anyone have solutions better than removal?

Vindicator should keep its lazer. People just need to learn that they should kill drop ship not the dropped comm.

If they are removed they should be replaced with AA missles.

Reduce dps or fire rate. Or both. I think windicator is too effective at killin cheap units.

Lasers outrange most early units and LLT. This is important for a drop rush.

Why is a comdrop rush such a viable strategy that's being encouraged? It's kind of giving the middle finger to newer players who don't have these fancy modules and weapons.

suggestion:
swap the vindicator laser for a weaker version of the air superiority fighter weapon (that can only target air). That way, it retains the ability to defend itself from fighters during drops, but no more com ganking assistance.

Well if 1 150 m plane would beat vindicator that would be ok, but then whats the point in having such weapon.

vindicator costs 500m.. it should probably be able to defeat a 150m plane 1:1 (but not the 300m one with higher HP)

Yep. The lasers (and all weapons) need to be removed. Purpose-designed "Drop Commanders" paired with weaponized dropship is just too much for most players to handle. I even see some of the best players losing to this approach. Remove the lasers, drop the cost a bit, and call it a day.

The more "rush cheese" we eliminate the better.

It's not uncommon to see a Vindicator make 2 x cost or more at killing stuff, in addition to dropping the commander. Vindicator's 100 dps is no joke and, like Google said, it stays out of the reach of a lot of stuff since it flies so high.

If I recall correctly there has been a thread on the issue of transporters before. Somewhere. I'd like to see Vindicator being removed and the transportation ability given to another heavy gunship.

Assault transporter
How about a true assault-transporter? Give either Black Dawn or Krow the ability to transport units. Black Dawns main weapon and Krows Dgun can both be used to clear an area of defenses or units. After dropping their load they move out - the high reload time of both weapons perfectly complement with this unit role.

"Rush-ability"
Although still allowing commander rushes both these units have a much higher cost and thus become less powerful in the early game. Black Dawns are just outside the very-efficient-rushables which tend to be in the 500m range. Good examples are Vindicator, Jack, Mace and Geo. From my experience the further away from this cost a tactic is the less rushable and thus common it is.

trololo... And fact is that you are absolutely right! It will be done exactly like that.

In fact we should try to do evolution, units evolve and stats get changed randomly, and then uhm it will just balance itself! like in those old days back then when dinosours were alive.
