Hi all !

I'm going to a LAN party next weekend and I wanted to know if it is possible to play on LAN without an Internet access.
Thanks in advance.

You need a different lobby and a lobby server program.

Springlobby has hosting capabilities and I think it still works. Get it here: http://springlobby.info/landing/index.php

The lobby server can be downloaded at the bottom of this page: http://springrts.com/wiki/Download

To install make a copy your engine/85.0 folder and put the Springlobby files in the base directory. Springlobby should find your maps when run from there and you will be able to host with it.

To install on other people's machines with no internet access copy your maps, mods, packages and pool folders to your copy of 85.0. Copying this onto another computer should work fine.

Of course test all this before you go.

Hi, I tried launching the lobby server, but when I launch it, it tells me that it can't listen on port 8200. I tried opeining it in my firewall but to no avail.
Any idea ?

Hi all !

I'b back from the LAN party where I tried to play Zero K with others, but I didn't succeed... :(

I successfully managed to listen to the port 8200 but when trying to connect with Springlobby, I just got a message on the console telling me that connection got closed or something like this ...

Any idea ?

Was this with a local lobby server?

Do you know why the zero-k lobby won't correctly connect to the LAN lobby server? I tried testing it out today with both SpringLobby and the Zero-k lobby. I can send messages from SpringLobby to the Zero-k lobby but not the other way around strangely. Of course the Zero-k lobby cannot create or view games with the LAN lobby server.

Just to correct what I said about chatting. Trying to do a private chat does not work correctly with the Zero-k lobby however it does work fine in the #main room.

Are you running TASServer.jar and then telling Spring lobby to connect to your local computer's IP?

Edit: Are you saying that there is a problem with Zero-K lobby connecting to a LAN server or Spring lobby?

For me SpringLobby has never had a problem connecting to the the LAN server (TASServer.jar). The Zero-k lobby only partially works for chatting only.

For both I just connect them to my local computer's IP address.

If I am not mistaken ZK lobby wants more info and settings than TASServer supplies. You may be able to find the ZK server in the google code base.

Thanks for all your advice.

Actually, I was not using the right version of TAS Server.

I'll give it another try tonight.

I managed launching the server but I could not connect with the latest version of Spring lobby, only with an old one.

With the newest one, I got this error : < userID > field should be an integer

Interesting. I just updated to the new SpringLobby and I get the same error.

It looks like the problem with SpringLobby and the LAN server is caused by the server itself. See the thread below.

hoijui posted a link to a stapshot version of the server which seems to work well. I'm sure there will be an official release shortly.
