I've been using the Commander Machine gun to help me vs swarm and found it very weak in terms of dps. Most other weapons deal 150-180 dps, but I find that is not the case with the Heavy Machine Gun. Any clarifications on this or?

Well, the script claims 35 damage at 300 rounds per minute, leading to 175 dps.
It also has splash and spread.
Haven't tried it personally though, but the numbers look favourable.
Is it hitting the enemies?

Most do not hit the enemy which is quite eww to me. It's a superb weapon on fat units but against small, it's the clumsiest thing.

Also, no splash damage, it's just a ballistic volley of plasma which most miss.

It's a Warrior weapon with a lower rate of fire, including identical velocity and AoE. This problem seems rather unlikely to me, though I haven't seen it myself.

It doesn't miss. The projectiles explode at the range they were shot at so the AOE will affect the unit it was fired at.

I found the HMG incredibly bad in comparison to the Shotgun or any other weapon, really.
For a weapon that is supposed to take on swarms of enemies, it won't do the same damage as other weapons unless the target is very large and nose distance.
It has lead me to regret ever buying the damned thing.

I agree with Mackeroni, I've switched from using it going to Riot. On paper it sounds ideal, but ingame it's just plain bad..

it is good on 1vs1 battle, helping my recon commander kill other commanders fast

Also, its good to kill skirmisher quickly. But it have some problem: why it always cease fire? Hope it have starter set to 0 rather than 75.

I found it quite an opposite. The rounds on the EMG is so clumsy that they rarely hit a distant target. Skirmishers keeps themselves at range (Hence Skirmishing. Attacking and running away)

Google's rogue will not run, they are under shield of the assault bot but shield cannot protect from AoE weapon like EMG.

One advantage is the range bonus on hills =D
It's a really annoying weapon !!!
Once I found a much better thing against spam - laser
