lets test it.
there has been much development and improvements for ZeroK and latest springengine.
take it short. it needs to be tested with many players to check functionality and better bug analysing
how about
6pm UTC on 8 th of feb.

We could join the test host and follow the instructions to bug reporting or no bug reporting if all goes well.

Technical measurements say it should be exactly as fast as 91.0

3v3 game, preformance was OK.

After the game when we tried to stat another one lobby tried to start 91.0 instead of 98.0 Restarting ZKL fixed it, but the next game issue repeated.

crr with 16 players. performance overall probably has increased since last test version, but huge lag spikes still do happen.

We played today some 98 games, generally feels better than half a year ago. BUT:
it was slow and laggy experience, constant random lagspikes all over the game, spoils all the fun, 91 is still far ahead by performance

Things stopping me from using 98:
* New weird edge scrolling behavior that makes parts of the UI unusable, I am unable to reproduce old 91.0 edge scrolling.
* Radar coverage not as clear as in 91.0 LoS view (new, old, note different colors for inside/outside border)

You all mad. Maybe I havent been playing for quite some time, but it works perfect (or, close to perfect, teh previosu issue fixed itslef) for me.

That lag at this time may be a server connection problem.

I was playing vs CAI at the time the engine wast tested and I can confirm that I have been lagging too :\
besides it is not going to be 98 engine switch but 99!

AUrankAdminGoogleFrog I agree you are right about that lag we all saw.

I'm talking about other laggy stuff such as:

- constant && reproducable lag spikes when someone quits game(exists in 91 too, but it's less noticable on 91)

- lag spike with total UI lock when u open building panel with icons in the first time, I see black icons && everything is locked for ~500ms. Then icons load and bug does not appear for this building panel anymore

- weird behavior of some game mechanics like com nap, in some cases transport does not follow orders

There are still other performance issues I was not able to tie to particular causes, but even if we solved this it would become better.

+ some people do experience consts game failures and crashes, this is unnaceptable as it ruins balance of almost any game

DErankKlon is welcomed to tell us about his issues and crashes with 98

I have intel 2600k and it lagged for me much worse than 91 does on games of such size.

i had a couple of crashes in that second game i linked, and wasnt able to get back into the game as it would crash over and over.

infolog says its likely graphics-related, brief inspection revealed there is also a gadget thats failing (labhax prevention) and some other stuff. i also crashed during another game but have no log for it.

other things that dont work as they should:

- the keys to turn buildings have changed for german keyboard layout, and im unable to find the new keys (annoying)

- when trying to select an empty autogroup, the current selection is no longer dropped as it would in 91.
this forces people to check if the group they selected actually contained any units before giving orders, otherwise they may order their commander to raid some mexes etc. (very annoying and awkward)

- when tabbing out of fullscreen mode in windows 8, the game will be forced into borderless window mode until exit.
there doesnt seem to be a way to change it while the game is running. as borderless window mode is ugly and has a bugged bar on top, this is also very annoying.

The method is "/fullscreen"; this could be added to UI eventually i guess, but it does exist.

These are indeed crashes of the GPU driver. I wonder if people who have ATI's know any workarounds.
