I heard that there are two terms for expressing intent in German:

1) "ich möchte" for "can i have this please",
2) and "ich will" for "GIB NAO OR ELSE"

in German i would say:

Es ist Wochenende und ich will spielen.

@anarchid, depends on context. "will" could mean like "i demand this now" or also "i would like this"
