In the script I check if the unit's footprint is abstructed, it could be a rounding issue since footprint is 1/16 size of map, what would be the proper way to avoid this?

I don't understand the question. What is 'abstructed', 'abstracted'? One footprint unit is 16 elmos but I don't see the error here. Are you testing with rotation taken into account? Testing this at all seems like a bad idea. See my post on the main topic with building masks.

Range i think is an issue but not always, if u move closer it sometimes works, i get it also when placing fusions.
