How do you stop a felon+porc ball with lveh? ravagers are not the answer

slashers work, if you have a porc to poke from

also you can simply ignore the ball, let it kill your solars for a bit
meanwhile your ravagers kill the enemy base
(cross-counter it ^.^)

Lveh vs shields: Remember that heatrays deal 100% dmg against shields even at max range. Capture beams ignore shields completely. Levelers' aoe can go through Convict and Thug shields and deal a lot of damage to clumped units, even better after r12411.

To be more clear:
I 'won' by cubeboy crashing.
I scouted his base and saw a felon coming out, followed by a bunch of convicts (five or so). I reacted by building up a ball of ravagers to counter the felon, and scouted to make sure cubeboy didn't expand, while I expanded myself. (Here I started to excess a bit, what might have cost me the win). Felon and convicts arrive at my half of the map, kill some mexes and a solar. I wanted to get more ravagers to drain felon and kill it. Convicts started to build llts, faraday,... in front of my base, attack with ravagers fails.
Cubeboy starts pumping out rogues. I almost die, he crashes.

Theoretically, a perfectly micro'd (holdfire, settarget, the works) domi that is protected from roaches can do very bad things to shields that don't have racketeers.

Yeah, that is just about as hard as it sounds.

Domi is not a noob tube.

When I want to watch the replay, spring crashes when the replay starts.

The same happens when I attempt to watch my local replay file. Does this have something to do with GBrankKyubey crashing at the end of the game?

When I try to watch local replays I keep getting "demofile corrupt or created by a different version of spring", even though I use the spring.exe of the right engine (in this case 97.0.1-3-gda04dd2). But the "Watch Replay Now" button here works for me.

The applicability of this knowledge when a felon is in the shieldball is somewhat limited afaik...

True, Felon completely changes how you handle shieldbots. Felons are countered differently depending on whether they are (almost) alone, in a small group, or in a large group of shield units. However, all regular shield-counters mentioned earlier also help a bit once Felons are out.

Spamming 1hp blueprints can help with all of them, but fails if there's an Outlaw, or when Felons are set to hold fire. Same for closed Razor/Halberd/Dirtbag spam. Assault units are always useful, unless the shieldball has grown to XXXL, Zeus is probably best here as EMP also damages shields and emped units don't regenerate shields. Stilettos work when you have MORE than enough to one-shot the ball, if you have just enough then Felons will kill some or all of your Stilettos. Skuttles feel like they are very much based on luck - a random explosion, Outlaw wave or unit accidentally walking near are enough to uncloak it, Felon then kills it in less than a second. Same for Roaches and Ticks. Racketeers, Tremors, Catapults and other artillery can be useful if you manage not to lose them. For large shieldballs the only cost efficient counter I can think of is a nuke - the nightmare of any XXXL-shieldball. Finally: never let shieldballs grow too large and go around and/or kill energy to potentially lower shield-regen.

Could someone please just try to watch the replay and comment on the specific situation in this game?

Why? You won! Shieldbot-counter? Crash your opponent!

Skasi - I thought the heatray-falloff-shield bug was fixed? They still do full damage?

And since Gauss doesn't go through shields anymore, shouldn't Capture be similarly fixed?

Early commorph hurt you quite a bit, there's no point in morphing an autorepair com so early just for expansion. This morph cost you at least one ravager later on. Either choose a com that only has a weapon (50-100m) at level 1 so you can morph it early or morph an autorepair com later on when you would actually benefit from the expensive autorepair module.

Your expansion past the initial three mexes was also pretty delayed. You started expanding soon after that, but it was already kind of late. Kyubey's play was semi-allin due to very little expansion so naturally holding a push like that is going to be tougher than usual.

So IMO it came down to those two economic mistakes. Having one extra ravager between the 6-7 minute marks would probably have allowed you to just crush through the felon + convicts and be far ahead. Having two more ravagers would have probably been outright gg in your favour.

Ravagers are very powerful vs sensibly sized shieldballs on open ground, so really all you needed was a decent amount of them before too much or too obnoxious (faraday) porc was set down to protect the ball.

OH, was heatray fixed? I doubt it, but didn't do science yet.

We need more Skasi's science to ZK
