In no particular order:
* No pushing (a couple of Maces could have rolled everything).

* A Stardust costs only slightly more than 2 Lotus (or 2 mexes) and is good against Dagger swarms.

* Not enough Bolas (Bolas should kite Daggers, running away from them).

* Like all alpha-based units, Daggers overwhelm very well, don't engage them if you don't have an inferior army as you won't do much attrition.

In my experience Bolas stop existing whenever they attempt a fight against mass Dagger.
