When I play with Scythes, for the enemy it is a whole tragedy. They can not do anything, they have to build traps at the base and move with them or just press resign resign. All commanders are dying like flies and this is insane. You cannot see or resist this, you get a lot of damage as fact. Even a crow can be seen, but no scythe. This is a cheap unit, easy to control, does not require a special micro. Enough 3 scythes to kill the commander. 250 * 3 = 750 m / e. Nothing in the game is capable of it. They are able to interrupt any attack, intercept any expensive but weak unit and destroy it. But what is there, they just break the felons, Ogreы. God, their DPS is higher in price than the ogre. There is no radar that can give me the opportunity to see them, there is no tower that would effectively destroy them, the only thing in the game that can not be controlled the same way, is the emp rocket of the silo

the cornea and iris should expose enemy cloaks? give vision but untargetable until in traditional decloak radius? Something should decloak inherently for a nominal price of course, rather than rely on scythe users making mistakes which only happens when I build them.

This shit should be annihilated one way or another - halve it's usefulness and it still will be kind of okaish for it's niche use cases.

Believe me I know what am I talking about at least in team games.
Team games are -different-, in 1v1 u can't mono-spam scythes - you will lose.
Scythe mono-spam is a serious issue in team games though

I don't want to make screens across all map, constantly replenish those screens, spam faradays and lotuses everywhere and STILL lose key units.
Currently effective countering of occasional scythe raids in team games requires full dedication of another player... and even then it's not guarantee you won't lose something valuable

Btw recently flea nerf made scythes even more OP - now when u are sneaking around u reveal fleas before scythe gets revealed :D and u can just go around...

I've played this in teams and simply having your air guy swoop in with swifts makes the Scythes die. Of course if they are sleeping at the wheel and miss the response window, you're cooked.

What about big maps Anarchid, what about games when air is already engaged in combat with another air player or gunships?
Do we need a dedicated air player(2nd) to counter scythes if enemy already has air/gunshits?...

Nobody uses snitches and ticks vs scythes. Good air players is rarity. So skyte nerf is not cuz skyte op but cuz nobody use counters vs it and underestimate their early potential as stealth attack. Plus send naked coms alone in frontline.

Yea Senaven - sure, you can counter a scythe pack with a precise snitch/tick. Do you have to put them across WHOLE map?
What happens when some of them die due to flea? Will you/should u replenish them? how fast can you replenish them? how efficient this is?

Scythes have STEALTH you have no fucking idea where they strike next. And when they do if you don't have -a counter- nearby - your ass gonna be on fire.

Next time they appear in another place where u don't have ur precious snitch/tick...
Problem with scythes - they appear out of nowhere, output shitton of DPS and if not countered within seconds - they wipe u out and run away with minimal losses.

Of course you can easily counter scythe pack in a -synthetic- situation, but on real battlefield it's quite another story...

Sometimes I even get a dedicated air fac just for countering scythes in 1v1. As an air player in teams (which I don't do because that always results in zero expansion) I'd always focus on cloaked units first, it's an easy way to make cost. I think Flails are better at fighting other air units than doing swift vs swift (terrible attrition).

The problem in teams is probably not scythes themselves, but that you can't afford losses. In 1v1 you can win with 100% attrition. In teams you mustn't ever lose any units to play your elo. When you can see your enemy it's much easier to use your experience to avoid deadly encounters.

I remember days when AUrankAdminGoogleFrog would trip his commander and some lotuses with Imps.

You go for an easy kill, BRZZT!, your whole army is dead. Eventually you become afraid to attack even lone lotuses with 8 glaives.

I still have nightmares.

Of course, Imps also come from the same factory that makes Scythe, and Snitch makes for a slightly worse commander defense trap.

I also think that the teams coordination problem applies to anything that can strike globally at little warning and cannot be defeated economically by a player who already has to fight against his opponent from the other team. But i guess the counter-argument that a killsquad of 3-4 scythes is 750-1000m, while a killsquad of 5 ravens is 1500m.

On larger maps air player is that one who determine game against skytes. On larger maps skytes loose its advantages.
You don't need scatter snitches and tick around all map. Only near objects who is vital or you know that it will be attacked. If you killing cheap stuff with skytes then your air can deal with it on larger map. One snitch can screw many skytes and this is absolute refund in metal. One snitch make cost vs one skyte. Yes you can also scatter them around and make traps.
ZK team games consist of unbalanced player team. Skyte doesn't require much skill to use against lower level players. I had two/three recent games vs skyte spammer. Nobody from my team tried even counter skytes. No air, no ground. After some my snitches skyte spammer stopped his uber raids in base. And in last game in large map he didn't even tried to go with skytes in mined zones. Fleas? You need teammate who spam them. And he then must spam them over entire map. He cant send them near allied lotus to see where my snithes is. But i can place my snitche there.
Skyte play is dirty play. If your opponent play dirty game you must play dirty game against him. And dats i like snithes. They make fear in skyte players.
Of course not every factory have counters to skytes. But its team game. Team fail cuz poor teamwork not cuz op unit. How much did u have seen that somebody for example send his outlaw to accompany ally commander if he rush with it in front? I almost never seen it. Everyone almost plays solo game. And then start blame OP units, air and so so. I'm playing mostly as support player. And i see all this game interaction background.

The Flea could possibly automatically move about for a few of seconds in a tiny area after being revealed by another cloaked unit. Maybe it could first move roughly away from the cost-weighted average location of every allied unit.
