Hey all,

I've been loving this game since the Steam release (I wouldn't have heard of it otherwise), but I have an intriguing problem: I turned the music volume all the way down so my son could listen to his silly childrens' youtube videos, but now I can't get the music to play again! I've tried digging through the game files, but I can't find the settings file to attempt a debug on my own. Can one of you good folks help me out?

Thanks!

Does the slidebar on the ingame menu in the top right not work?

Indeed; the slider (and the menu slider) both show 50%.

I just tried a reinstall; nothing...

Changing music_volume in "Zero-K\LuaUI\Config\ZK_data.lua" should change it. Otherwise your widget has broken or been disabled. Send a crash report and link it here.

Hey all; just wanted to post here that I managed to fix it, and that fixing it brought some interesting discoveries:

-I tried doing a verification of file integrity, and Steam reported that there were 2 files that needed to be replaced (and supposedly did so). However, there was no change regarding my problem.

-I tried uninstalling again and watched the folder where it was installed - uninstalling left a large portion of the game files intact in the zero-k folder of the steamapps folder

-Deletion of all files (except my save games folder) followed by a fresh reinstall successfully restored musical function to the game.

I thought that you folks might like to know that uninstalling does not actually delete everything. I don't know if that's something that the community should fix, or whether that's a Steam problem, but I figure that someone here would be interested to know that.

Thanks for your help, Googlefrog!

I think uninstalling leaves configuration files by design. That said, I don't know the full list of what is left undeleted.
