I find this to be an inconsistency wrt reclaiming wrecks which does decloak the com, whereas the two mechanics have the same goal: get units.

And rezzing is widely held to be more efficient than reclaiming, so one reason less to advantage it vs reclaiming.

Rezzing is rarely worth it since the only units that can do it are expensive, making it very slow. Even if you can rez while cloaked, reclaiming is usually better

Ok but then why no decloak?

it has been like this since the dawn of time. and we are conversatives. we need to conserve this. put it into conserve cans. to conservately conserve it.

I agree that you are quite conversant in this conversation.

No decloak is because engine. Engine is probably because BA wanted their commando to be sneaky or something.

But there is consistency among cloak and rezzing, the Athena, currently the only other unit able to rez, also stays cloaked when rezzing. Maybe make rezzing not look visually like a nanolathe, because it's only energy being used(Kinda strange how it looks like you're shoving metal into something). For example, it could be the lazer beams that are the low-graphic version of the nanolathe.

And speaking of that, repairing also uses the same nano-cloud effects while repairing, which is also kind of strange because metal is not required to repair something, even though it used to be in OTA(I was mistaken, this is only the case for SupCom). If there is any changes to how nanolathes look when repairing, building, or rezzing, each operation should get it's own unique look just because. For reasons of technobablle realism(ie. Fluff) repairing could be the lazer with nanolathe particles being emitted and circling around the unit being repaired, because the energy is reorganizing the metal which has been shifted by unintended plasma shell hits. This would also convey the information that the unit is being repaired to the enemy in a simpler way than now.

Repair costed only energy in OTA.

I don't see the need to homogonise mechanics. They're similar, but having small differences allows for more decision making. Some wrecks are unattainable for reclaim because you'll be seen etc. Get your Athena in there and rez it. How is this a problem?

Rezzing costs more and limits what you do with the effective metal. I've never heard anyone good claim it OP or even that good.

I'm sure the discussion would be interesting, but I'm willing to bet this issue (and "what can cloak" in general) has been brought up multiple times already, so it would be better to search for those threads first instead of starting a new one...

We control the situation with shooting now (formerly rez/reclaim would prevent shooting while repair and build not).

It's conceivable that rez/cloak situation can be subjugated too.

Rez is noticeable so should decloak. Nobody has coded it yet.

It should definitely decloak imo

Athena decloaking on rez but being sturdier doesn't sound too bad. Com rez is just a bad mechanic and I wouldn't be opposed to rez being exclusively an Athena thing.

The point I was trying to make is that rezzing while cloaked is not op at all
Actually it can be seen as a way to encourage the use of rez
